Basic Obedience Classes

Our Basic Obedience class is the perfect starting point for you and your dog. We run these courses regularly (depending on demand), and once you’ve completed this level, you’ll be ready to move on to other classes as your skills grow.
 

In this class, your dog will learn to:

• Accepting collar being held for a few steps

• Taking a treat nicely

• Handling/grooming by the handler

• Accepting approach and touch by an assessor

• Accepting a friendly dog

• Name recognition

• Lead walking

• Come when called

• Sit and down on cue

• 30 second stay
   

Course details:

• When: Mondays (times may vary)

• Cost: $150 for 10 weeks

• What to expect: This fun, supportive class will teach you and your dog the foundations of good manners and control. At the end, there’s a short assessment to make sure you’re both ready to move on to the next stage.
   

Membership:

Once you’ve finished the Basic Obedience course, you’ll have the option to become a Club Member for just $65 a year. Membership opens the door to most of our other classes, so you and your dog can keep learning and having fun together.
 

What to bring:

• Proof of current dog registration with your local council

• A vaccination certificate showing full parvo cover

• Lead and collar (haltis and harnesses are also fine)

• Poo bags

• Plenty of soft treats (easy to eat quickly)

• Comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear (no jandals)

 

Please note: If your bitch comes into season, she’ll need to stay home for up to 21 days. If this happens partway through a course, just let your instructor know—we’ll do our best to slot you into the next available class.
